If you live in a house with a driveway

This is the straightforward version. A dedicated circuit from your consumer unit out to the charger, load management if your supply needs it, tested, certified and usually done in an afternoon. Starts at £850.

The usual complication is the age of the consumer unit. If yours is a plastic board with rewireable fuses it will need replacing before another circuit goes on it — not because anyone is trying to sell you something, but because it cannot be certified otherwise. That adds to the total, and we will give you the figure at the quote stage rather than on the day.

If you live in a flat

This is the part most installers skip, and it is worth reading properly.

If you rent, or own a flat, and you have private off-street parking, we can usually fit a charger. That covers an allocated bay in a residents car park, a space in an underground garage, or a marked space on the development. It does not cover parking on the public road. There is a government grant scheme for this situation, but it is not one we are signed up to, so we quote a fair fixed price instead.

There are usually three things to sort out, and we can help with all of them.

1. Permission

The freeholder or management company has to agree. Most will, but they will want to know who is doing the work and what certification you will get. Our NICEIC Approved Contractor registration usually settles it.

2. The cable route

From your flat consumer unit to your bay, which sometimes means running through a communal area. This is the part that needs thinking about properly, and it is why we survey rather than guess.

3. Metering

Whose electricity is it? Usually yours, off your own supply. Occasionally it comes off a landlord supply and that needs sorting out first.

A flat install takes longer than a house and is a bit more involved. It is also completely normal, and we will give you a fixed price before any work starts.

If you are a landlord

If you have several properties around Uxbridge, we can carry out the EICRs at the same visit as the charger installs rather than making two trips, which keeps the cost down. We are not signed up to the landlord grant scheme, so we quote at our normal rates.
